As time progressed, Mario became more and more interested in Assemblage, making things out of found materials, or using such materials to transform an ordinary object into something unique. He did this with handbags, jackets, and other clothing items. He showed these works at Julie’s Artisans Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York for over 40 years. Julie Dale, the owner of the gallery, is one of the pioneers of the concept of Art to Wear; she included several of Mario’s pieces in her seminal book on the subject, ART TO WEAR. Julie has donated Mario’s “Overdone Jacket” to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
